This is the cover of the DVD of the film that I have been trying so hard to get for the past few days, running from Suntec to Holland V to Clementi, and in the end, got it from the Poh Kim outlet at anchorpoint. It is exactly the same as the one I saw in Suntec, and no, it is not the extended version. Then how come I wanted to get it? Cos I ask the lady at the Poh Kim shop where is the deluxe version of this DVD.

Me: "小姐, 请问这个有没有deluxe version 的?"

小姐: " 我们没有..."

Me: "是没有还是没有货?"

小姐: " 没有货不时没有咯"

Then I really diao. 没有货 and 没有 are two completely different thigns la, pls. Dun you know the difference? 没有货 means it exists, just that because of some reasons, like maybe it is too popular, or pple like the fighting scenes, or some gay bastards think that Jet Li is so man and decided to get the DVD and **** as they watch it. 没有 means that the company that produces the DVD has not made the deluxe version, or is not intending to make any. It may not mean anything to her, but it means the world to me ok, so stop the attitude. In the end, she said can wait if i wanna, for the deluxe version to come out. Somehow I know that it will be out, but I dunno when. There is this little something inside me that really gives me the strong urge to buy the show, deluxe or not. I was more than happy to give in to the urge, and hence, got the movie version. Just as I handed the notes over to the cashier, I made a promise to myself. When the deluxe version comes out, I am going to get it, although I already had one le. I dunno why I am so attracted to this show. No, it is not because it is Jet's last action blckbuster. It is something in the show that made me wanna watch it again and again. This is one of the very few shows that I dun think I will ever get sick of. The only other such show is "Saving Private Ryan", which I had watched nearly 10times and can get the dialogue in my mind and know who is going to say wad.

Apparently there is this hoo-haa about the fearless show. The descendents of the hero 霍元甲 decieded to sue the producers or script writers or director or dunno who dunno who la. Bottomline is, the big shots in charge of the film got into some legal issues with the descendents. Apparently our 霍大侠 did have descendents, unlike what the show protrayed, where his only daughter was murdered in a feud. I think his death was also edited in the show. In actual fact, he did not die from poisoning from some Japanese bastards. He died due to some other reasons that I cannot remember. And he did have 2 brothers, who did not appear at all in the show, and he was not the arrogant young fellow that he was protrayed to be in the show, and his mother ought to have been prettier and yada yada... All these inaccuracies really pissed the descendents off I think. Well, maybe they think the show protrayed him in a bad light.

However, I dun think so. There is actually a lesson for all, esp for those who are learning or are interested in picking up martial arts. It may not have to be wushu, just applicable to any form of martial arts. It shows the transformation of an exponent, to a real master. Exponents may be good at the techniques, at the skills, at the physical aspect of the art, but to be termed a master, one has to incoporate the... the... Well , I dunno how to say it in english, but in mandarain, we call it 武德. Meaning there is some virtues that comes with the arts, like control, discipline, and to me the most important of all, humility. There is never something, or someone called "The Best". The someone may be the world champion, may be the record holder, or may be the defending champion or wadever u call it. But is he really the best. I dun think so. He is only the best among the pple who took part in the same competition, but these pple may not be the best that there may be. Who knows the leacherous uncle whom u see sweeping your neighbourhood may be better than the so-called champion, just that he did not, or is unwilling to show his skills, and is contended just to be the leacherous old man... Haha. Ok, I know it is crap.

I also wonder how come pple make so much noise when movies or serials that are based on a book or historical person deviates from the actual event that took place. My first experience was with the serial on channel 8 <<神雕侠侣>> starring fann wong and lee. At that time, there were articles and newspaper reports of stupid and senseless pple who wrote in, complaining how the serial deviates so much from the book originally written by Louis Cha. Seriously I think these pple are just show-offs who wanted the world to know that they had read that series of books. Pls, what is there to be proud of? I read it when I was in sec 1 la. And they just keep complaining and complaining about the same thing everyday, just that they took the time and effort to rephrase wad the person said on the newspaper the day before. Bottomline of their arguement is, the show does not follow the book's plot. Hey, if u wan the original plot, go and read that book ok? Cant you just take it as watching another show that happens to have the same name but is actually telling a different story? Wouldn't all teh problems be solved then? I mean, you can spend your time watching a show if it is not 改编 from a book or history, so y cant you shut up and watch one that was 改编ed from one? Since they said it was 改编 that means it has been changed la, so shut your trap and enjoy the show. Otherwise, switch chanel and watch something else, or just throw your pathetic tv down the block.

So conclusion is, the show is nice and I dun care whether it is accurate historically. Not only does it feature great action choreography, there is actually a deeper moral lesson behind the show. Lastly, if this reason actually entice you, it is Jet Li's last action movie. Strongly strongly strongly recommended!
